#FitForMore with Duncan Phillips

Fit for more…

What does this mean to me?
As the drummer for Newsboys, I feel a responsibility to perform at my best, for my God, my family, my bandmates, and ultimately our wonderful fans!
It’s out of a desire to be the best I can, that fuels my passion!

As believers, we represent another! We are ambassadors of the highest!
As an ambassador, I am His representative! To be a Christian means to be “Christlike” His reflection!

As a father, I want to be present for my wife and family. I must represent daily to them, by my actions. I have been very aware of this.
People may not remember the exact words we say but will always remember the way you made them feel.

Words do have power!

Proverbs 18:21 “life and death are in the power of the tongue.”

We are given words as a powerful gift. They can bring blessing or a curse. This is also a discipline...to hold our tongues!
Speak life!

At this juncture, it’s important to distinguish between “discipline” and “obsession.”
“Discipline” as described in Miriam Webster's dictionary is: “Orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior.”
Or simply put, “to have a methodical adherence to self-control.”
“Obsession” in contrast, is “the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image or desire.”

Notice, self-control is not a part of an obsession.
Obsession could also be described as an idea or desire that is totally out of control!

My “fit for more” goes way beyond just wanting to look good. Divine health is a byproduct of faith, knowledge, and discipline.

I’ve often said, “you’d never put low-grade gas in your Lamborghini,” so why would you put low-quality fuel in your body?

Our bodies default to “self-healing” and “being well.” As soon as we get a cut, our bodies go to work, immediately sending blood-clotting agents to the affected area to stop the bleeding.

I believe through diet and life choices we either help or hinder our body's ability to self-heal and be well.
Our bodies are made up of up to 60% water... but we never drink it!
Our brains and heart 73%
Lungs 83%
Our skin 64%
Muscles and kidneys 79%

Even our bones are 31% water!

A recent US study of 2000 people found that just 22% drank the USDA recommended 8 to 10 classes a day!

I believe that because of this, our body’s “filters,” primarily our liver and kidneys don’t have enough water to do their jobs effectively, so our bodies become acidic and toxic!

We should never see food as a source of comfort. Food is a vital necessity, full of nutrition and goodness to empower you, to live life to the fullest!

The great thing is, is that it is all fixable with a little discipline!

This discipline is preemptive health care.
Your sense of self-image, self-worth, dreams, and calling will skyrocket.
Physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually.
It’s all connected...

Fit for more!

I remember going to the huge Winterfest event in Gatlinburg TN and saw Newsboys at the event around 2010. Duncan turned upside down with the drums on God’s Not Dead and rocked the show 💪. Really like the message Duncan said here as I’m also a nutrition and fitness guy.
You guys rock and thanks for all the work you guys do! 🤙🏼
